The Philadelphia Phillies have been playing well recently and are currently in first place in the competitive National League East.

However, there’s still room for improvement, as their recent 4-6 stretch highlights. If the Phillies continue hitting at this level, significant changes may be unlikely. While the offense has shown flashes of being one of the best in baseball, there have been stretches where strikeouts pile up, and they can’t seem to get anything going.
Adding a star player could help, but it might come at a steep price. In a recent trade proposal from Bleacher Report, the idea of the Phillies acquiring Alex Bregman was floated, involving a trade of three players in return.
“Trade Proposal: Philadelphia Phillies get 3B Alex Bregman; Boston Red Sox get RHP Taijuan Walker, 3B Alec Bohm, RHP Mick Abel.
“With $27 million still owed to him, Walker is in this proposal to dull the impact of the luxury-tax hit of adding Bregman for the Phillies. Bohm is included because, honestly, it’s probably time for him to have a change of scenery,” they wrote.
“In Abel, Boston would also get a pitcher it could slot right into a rotation that has had issues outside of Garrett Crochet. The Red Sox like big stuff, and he can throw 99 with a nasty curveball.”
Trading three major league players for Alex Bregman sounds like a lot, but it might not even be enough to land him from the Boston Red Sox.
It’s still unclear whether the Red Sox are leaning towards selling, but with a 43-45 record and six games back in the American League East, their position is looking shaky. They’ve struggled recently, going 3-7 in their last 10 games, so things aren’t exactly heading in the right direction for them.
