After a six-year tenure that included three Big 12 regular season titles and a national championship in 2022, Kansas point guard has officially wrapped up his time in Lawrence.
Earlier this week, Harris shared a farewell message on Instagram, expressing his gratitude to Jayhawk fans for their support throughout his college career.
Harris was a polarizing figure for many Kansas fans, celebrated for his exceptional passing and defensive skills but occasionally criticized for being hesitant and limited offensively. Despite the mixed opinions, it’s clear that Harris made a lasting impact on the program.
Joining KU’s 2019 recruiting class as a late addition after initially committing to Missouri State, Harris leaves Kansas as the school’s all-time leader in minutes played (5,154) and games played (173). He’s also second on the all-time assists list (865), trailing only Aaron Miles.

Over his career, Harris earned three All-Big 12 Defensive Team selections, including being named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2023. He also received three All-Big 12 Honorable Mentions and three Academic All-Big 12 honors.
However, it’s Harris’ role on the 2022 national championship team that will be most memorable.
During the 2022 NCAA Tournament, he averaged 6.5 points on 50% shooting and 54.5% from three, along with 3 assists and 1.3 steals. His stellar defense, particularly against opposing top scorers, was crucial. As the starting point guard, he played a key role in directing an offense that featured Kansas stars like Ochai Agbaji, Jalen Wilson, and fan-favorite Christian Braun.
Harris has represented KU with pride both on and off the court, and as his career moves forward, he will be an easy player and person to root for.
