The Los Angeles Angels have placed left fielder on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a broken left hand night. The versatile veteran was hit by a 95 mph fastball from Tyler Ferguson during the eighth inning of the Angels’ 7-4 win over the Athletics.
Although he remained in the game and played right field, postgame X-rays revealed a fracture. Manager Ron Washington confirmed the 34-year-old will be out indefinitely. A comparable injury kept Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts sidelined for nearly two months last season.
“He’s just been having some bad luck, and it just keeps happening,” Washington said of Taylor, who battled a neck injury for much of 2024. “So now all he can do is just get well. But in the game of baseball, things like that happen, and the next guy’s got to step up.”

Chris Taylor, who joined the Angels after being released by the Dodgers on May 18, had been showing signs of improvement at the plate before his injury. In 10 games with Los Angeles, he hit .200 (6-for-30) with one home run, three doubles, and three RBIs. Most notably, he had a strong showing over the weekend against the Seattle Mariners, collecting four hits—including a homer and two doubles—and driving in three runs over two games.
Following Taylor’s move to the injured list, the Angels added utility man LaMonte Wade Jr. to the active roster. Wade, 31, was acquired from the San Francisco Giants on Sunday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Wade struggled offensively with the Giants this season, batting .167 (24-for-144) with one home run, eight doubles, and 15 RBIs across 50 games. Although he has logged significant time at first base in his career, Angels manager Ron Washington said Wade will primarily play in the corner outfield spots moving forward.
