Baseball is more exciting when Los Angeles Angels standout Mike Trout is healthy, hitting home runs, and playing in the outfield.
Now, it looks like Trout is on track to return to doing all three. After shifting from center to right field during spring training, he took part in outfield drills ahead of Friday’s 5-4 win over the division rival Seattle Mariners.
Trout has been sidelined from outfield action since injuring his knee on April 30. He’s been out for nearly a month due to a bone bruise in his left knee.

“He said he felt good,” Washington told reporters. “It was just minimal motion. That’s all. Just minimal motion. Nothing that really challenged him. But it’s a start.”
Opposing pitchers won’t be thrilled to hear that a healthy Mike Trout looks rejuvenated after his time on the injured list. Over his last seven games, he’s gone 10-for-25 with a home run and five RBIs.
Still, Trout’s overall numbers remain underwhelming by his standards—he’s batting just .221 and is on track for his lowest OPS since his 40-game debut season in 2011. On the bright side, he has already matched last season’s total of 10 home runs.
Meanwhile, the Angels remain in the postseason conversation. Entering Saturday, they sat at 29-33—5.5 games behind the AL West-leading Houston Astros—and are chasing the Toronto Blue Jays for the American League’s final Wild Card spot.
