BREAKING: West Virginia Mountaineers reportedly confirm the signing of top talented player

West Virginia University men’s basketball head coach Ross Hodge has revealed that talented guard has signed a grant-in-aid to join the team for the 2025–26 season.

A  6-foot-6, 210-pound senior guard from Brookhaven, Georgia, he spent last season playing at St. Bonaventure.

“We are excited to have Chance join the WVU basketball program,” Hodge said. “Chance has the ability, size and physicality to impact both sides of the ball and impact winning at a high level. He is a high character individual who will align closely with the values of WVU, the state of West Virginia and our basketball program.”

Last season at St. Bonaventure, Chance Moore averaged 13.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, starting 31 of 32 contests. He scored in double figures 21 times and finished 10th in the Atlantic 10 in rebounding. In postseason play, Moore tallied 19 points in the A-10 quarterfinals against VCU and added 16 points in the NIT matchup with Kent State.

Moore’s season highlights included a 27-point performance at Canisius and a 12-rebound outing versus VCU. He also posted 23 points each against Siena and Saint Louis, and 21 against VCU. His efforts earned him spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.

Before joining St. Bonaventure, Moore played two seasons at Missouri State. In 2023–24, he started 20 of 31 games, averaging 10.7 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 41.2% from the field in nearly 27 minutes per game. He scored a career-best 28 points against Evansville and contributed 24 points and eight rebounds in the season opener at West Virginia. He also pulled down 15 rebounds in a game versus Lindenwood.

In the 2022–23 season, Moore served as a key reserve, earning MVC All-Bench Team honors after averaging 10.6 points and scoring in double digits 17 times. He ranked 11th in the conference in blocks and had standout games with 23 points against Purdue Fort Wayne and 11 rebounds at BYU.

Moore began his collegiate career at Arkansas in 2021–22, where he appeared in five games as the only freshman in that year’s recruiting class. He saw action during the Razorbacks’ NCAA Tournament run, including the win over New Mexico State en route to the Elite Eight.

A four-star recruit from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, Moore led his team to a 28–5 record and a top-four finish in the 7A state tournament as a senior. He averaged 23.1 points and 9.2 rebounds that season, earning second-team All-State and All-Cobb County honors. In 2019–20, he averaged 25.7 points and 5.8 rebounds. Moore was a top-100 national recruit in the class of 2021 and ranked as the No. 4 player in Georgia by ESPN.
