The Ohio State Buckeyes are still working to resolve their quarterback situation for the upcoming season, but that hasn’t stopped them from planning ahead for the future at the position.
Looking ahead to 2027, Ohio State secured a commitment from four-star quarterback Brady Edmunds back in December.
Although Edmunds hasn’t officially signed with the Buckeyes and could still reopen his recruitment, he appears enthusiastic about joining Ohio State. Recently, he announced plans to visit Columbus once again between June 5 and June 10.
During his visit, Edmunds will not only connect with the coaching staff but also take on the role of a peer recruiter, underscoring his strong commitment to the program.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 215 pounds, Brady Edmunds—out of Huntington Beach, California—is ranked as the sixth-best quarterback in the nation and the No. 67 overall prospect, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He’s also the eighth-ranked player in California.
Meanwhile, Ohio State is facing some uncertainty at the quarterback position heading into the 2025 season. Julian Sayin was widely expected to be the starter, but an underwhelming spring performance has opened the door for junior Lincoln Kienholz to enter the conversation.

While Sayin remains the likely choice to lead the offense this fall, the competition has become much more compelling. It’s worth noting that Ohio State faced similar doubts at quarterback around this time last year—only for Will Howard to step up and guide the Buckeyes to a national championship.
