St Louis Cardinals Blockbuster Trade Land $14 Million Slugger In Exchange For Ryan Helsley

The St. Louis Cardinals are expected to consider trading closer Ryan Helsley as this season’s trade deadline approaches.

Helsley is in the final year of his contract, and top-tier relievers like him often draw significant trade returns, especially with most playoff-contending teams eager to bolster their bullpens with reliable late-inning arms.

However, the Cardinals’ performance could complicate a potential deal. Moving Helsley would be a major concession unless they receive a player who can contribute immediately at the major league level.

Garrett Kerman of Clutch Points recently proposed a bold trade scenario involving Helsley. In his mock deal, he suggested the Cardinals send Helsley to the Texas Rangers in exchange for slugger Adolis García, pitching prospect Emiliano Teodo, and outfielder Blaine Crim.

“This package gives the Cardinals a proven power bat for their outfield, a near-MLB-ready reliever or potential starter in Teodo, who can touch 102 mph and has dominated Double-A, and a versatile, high-OBP bat in Crim to bolster their bench or fill in at first base or corner outfield,” Kerman wrote. “For the Rangers, acquiring Helsley would immediately stabilize the back end of the bullpen, giving manager Bruce Bochy a proven closer to pair with the likes of Luke Jackson and Chris Martin.

“Helsley’s presence would shorten games and provide much-needed reliability in high-leverage spots, something Texas has sorely missed since their World Series run.”

A trade like this could be a game-changer for the Cardinals. Acquiring García would add a powerful presence to their lineup, potentially filling a key role as an everyday outfielder.

At the same time, the inclusion of two promising prospects shouldn’t be underestimated. This move could strengthen the team both in the short term and long term—boosting their current roster while also adding valuable talent for the future.
