The Detroit Tigers have released veteran outfielder.
He had been playing for Triple-A Toledo and had been on the injured list since April 25.
At 33 years old, Gamel has spent parts of nine seasons with eight different MLB teams, most recently the Astros and New York Mets in 2024.

A left-handed hitter, Gamel owns a career .716 OPS (96 OPS+) across 2,320 plate appearances, though his defensive performance has typically been considered below average.
He was signed by the Tigers to a minor-league contract in March, following a series of outfield injuries. Prior to his injury, Gamel posted a .259 batting average with a .739 OPS in 69 plate appearances.
