NC State strike again, land massive commitment for highly rated super talent

According to 247Sports, Darrion Williams ranks No. 6 overall and No. 2 among power forwards in this year’s transfer portal. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound five-star talent — who spent two years at Texas Tech and one at Nevada — has committed to NC State for his final college season under new head coach Will Wade.

Last season at Texas Tech, Williams averaged 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.3 steals per game over 30 minutes. He shot 43.9% from the floor, 34.0% from beyond the arc, and 83.6% from the free-throw line.

CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein called Williams “a seismic get for Will Wade and the Wolfpack,” adding that he’s a potential All-American for the 2025-26 season. A First Team All-Big 12 honoree, Williams appears poised to be a cornerstone of next season’s NC State roster.

Still, NC State is actively pursuing more top-tier talent, including former Memphis standout PJ Haggerty, the No. 2 overall player and top point guard currently in the transfer portal.
