BREAKING: Texas Longhorns Receive Huge Recruit News…

As the 2026 recruiting cycle gains momentum, prospects are not only beginning campus visits but also starting to narrow down their choices. According to On3 Sports, the Texas Longhorns currently boast a top-15 recruiting class nationally and are looking to strengthen it even further.

One potential addition is four-star wide receiver Mason James, the top-ranked recruit in Oklahoma. James told On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett that he has trimmed his list to five schools: Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Washington, and Texas.

Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian raises the trophy as the Texas Longhorns celebrate their 39-31 double overtime win over the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Peach Bowl College Football Playoff quarterfinal at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, Jan. 1, 2025.

James has official visits scheduled, including a trip to Texas’ campus on June 13, followed by a visit to rival Oklahoma on June 20. He plans to announce his college decision on June 25, giving both the Longhorns and the Sooners final opportunities to win him over.

This will be James’ second trip to Austin, following a previous visit in April. Reflecting on that experience, he told Inside Texas:

“It was amazing for me and my family to be here. Just very blessed and honored. Even though I got the offer late, for the Texas family to show me love is really big for me in this process.”

While Oklahoma is widely viewed as the favorite to land the state’s top prospect, a recent recruiting push by Steve Sarkisian and his staff has made the race more competitive than expected.

If James commits to Texas on June 25, he would become the second wide receiver in the Longhorns’ 2026 class, joining fellow four-star recruit Chris Stewart from Shadow Creek High School.
