
This week, Oklahoma bolstered its 2026 football recruiting class by securing two new commitments and issuing several scholarship offers to promising prospects.
New Commits: Niko Jandreau and Jakore Smith
The Sooners now have six verbal commitments for 2026, thanks to the additions of linebacker Jakore Smith and safety Niko Jandreau.
Smith, a 4-star talent from Bryant, Arkansas, is now the top-ranked player in OU’s class per 247Sports. He’s rated as the 18th-best linebacker nationally.
Jandreau, a 3-star recruit from Chandler, Arizona, received his offer from Oklahoma in February and made his commitment three months later. He has an official visit to Norman scheduled for June.

As it stands, 247Sports ranks OU’s 2026 class 44th in the nation and 12th in the SEC. The other four verbal commits are quarterback Jaden O’Neal, wide receiver Daniel Odom, offensive lineman Will Conroy, and tight end Ryder Mix.
New Offers
Tight end Jack Sievers, a 3-star recruit from Everett, Washington, announced Tuesday that he received a scholarship offer from Oklahoma. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Sievers is the ninth-ranked player from Washington for 2026. Other schools recruiting him include Wisconsin, Boise State, Minnesota, and San Diego State.
Campus Visits
Oklahoma defensive ends coach Miguel Chavis visited 2026 edge rusher DeAnthony Lafayette on Friday. The 3-star defender had an impressive 2024 season with 23.5 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, and several big plays on defense. LSU, Miami, Florida, and Georgia Tech are among the other programs pursuing him.
Additionally, linebacker Ben Wenzel—a 3-star prospect and the No. 7 player from Wisconsin—visited campus unofficially on Friday. He later posted that he’ll be back for an official visit in June. Wenzel’s offer list includes Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan State, Kansas, and Oklahoma.
Looking Ahead to 2027
Oklahoma is also planning for the future by offering 2027 cornerback Jerry Outhouse Jr., a top-rated defensive back. Outhouse, the No. 57 overall prospect in his class according to 247Sports, had a standout sophomore year at Fort Worth Brewer High School, recording 44 tackles, five interceptions, and a fumble recovery.
He now holds offers from several major programs, including Texas A&M, Arizona State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, and Ole Miss.
