Nebraska Cornhuskers part-ways with physically gifted Safety

Nebraska football player D’Andre Barnes has announced that he will transfer to Utah State for the 2025 season. Barnes, who initially joined the Huskers in 2023, appeared in one game during the 2024 season, making his debut against UTEP. With his move to Utah State, he will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Barnes was a standout player in high school, particularly during his senior season at Regis Jesuit High School. According to MaxPreps.com, he caught 37 passes for 785 yards and nine touchdowns, showing his playmaking ability.

Now, Barnes will have a chance to contribute to a Utah State program that finished 4-8 in 2024 and has struggled to post a winning record since 2021. With his athleticism and speed, Barnes could become an impactful addition to the Aggies’ roster as they look to rebuild. Nebraska has seen several players enter the transfer portal and find success at other programs, and Barnes will hope to continue that trend with Utah State.
