Few teams stir as much animosity in the Iowa Hawkeyes as the Minnesota Golden Gophers, which is why their annual Big Ten clash for the Floyd of Rosedale trophy is so highly anticipated.
The rivalry extends beyond the football field — the schools often clash in recruiting battles as well. Currently, both programs have their sights set on the same target: three-star linebacker Braylon Hodge from Englewood, Colorado.
According to Brandon Huffman of 247 Sports, Iowa is scheduled to meet with Hodge on June 20. However, the Golden Gophers will get their shot earlier, with a visit planned for June 13. Hodge also has a meeting lined up with Michigan State on May 30.

A member of the 2026 recruiting class, the 6-foot-3 linebacker would be a valuable addition for Iowa, especially after the departure of their entire starting linebacker unit, including standouts Jay Higgins and Nick Jackson.
Though Hodge wouldn’t take the field for a couple of seasons, securing his commitment would help Iowa restock a key position for the future. He’s currently ranked as the No. 95 linebacker nationally and the No. 11 prospect in Colorado, per 247 Sports.
On the field, Iowa has had the upper hand in this rivalry recently, winning nine of the last ten games, including a 31-14 victory last September. Now, the Hawkeyes will try to extend their dominance off the field by beating Minnesota in the race for Hodge’s commitment.
