The Oklahoma Sooners are set to secure their first defensive commitment for the 2026 recruiting class. Brian Harris, a defensive tackle from Jacksonville, Florida, is set to announce his decision on May 23.
Although his commitment is still over a week away, Steve Wiltfong, Director of National Recruiting at On3, has already made an announcement in favor of Oklahoma landing Harris.
Harris, a three-star defensive tackle, stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 290 pounds. He holds offers from several top-tier programs, including Michigan, Alabama, Ole Miss, Colorado, Auburn, West Virginia, and Penn State.
He visited Norman for Oklahoma’s Future Freaks weekend in early March and is scheduled for an official visit there on June 6.
In March, Harris earned the UA Next Orlando MVP title for his standout performance at the camp.

On the field, Harris boasts impressive size for a defensive lineman. His speed and intensity stand out, as he plays with a violent, physical edge while showcasing excellent athleticism for someone nearing 300 pounds. At Mandarin High, he frequently lined up as a defensive end in three-man fronts, demonstrating his ability to rush the edge and pressure quarterbacks. He also excels in backside pursuit, chasing down running backs from behind with great effort. Harris is adept at using his angles and arm length to maneuver around offensive linemen.
Here’s what Harris told Rivals’ John Garcia back on May 10. “OU has great potential and great consistency when it comes to coaches and communication with me. They see me as a top priority guy on their board and that speaks volumes for me.”
The Oklahoma Sooners seem on the verge of securing a commitment from a highly talented yet underrated prospect in the 2026 class. Brian Harris has the potential to make an immediate impact at the college level and could even contribute right from day one.
