Cardinals receives major update regarding Nolan Arenado blockbuster trade possibility

Are the St. Louis Cardinals planning to trade one of their core players this season?

That question has lingered throughout the year, regardless of the team’s performance. Whether the Cardinals were winning — as they currently are — or struggling, potential trades have remained a major talking point, or rather, the absence of them.

Despite widespread speculation, Nolan Arenado wasn’t dealt in the offseason. Since then, MLB writers and analysts have frequently proposed hypothetical trades involving him, debating where he might land. However, there’s been no real indication that a move is on the horizon, especially given the Cardinals’ current hot streak.

On Sunday, USA Today Sports’ Bob Nightengale reported that there’s currently no interest across the league in making a trade.

“The St. Louis Cardinals are not receiving any interest in third baseman Nolan Arenado after he rejected trades this winter to the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels,” Nightengale said.

That’s not all that surprising. If a trade were to happen, it would most likely be closer to the summer trade deadline. Still, with the Cardinals currently just two games out of first place and playing some of their best baseball, it feels like the trade rumors can take a back seat — at least for now.
