In his first two seasons leading the Kentucky Wildcats, Mark Pope has primarily relied on the transfer portal to shape his roster, rather than focusing on high school recruits. However, that doesn’t mean he’s ignoring the high school talent pool moving forward.
The Wildcats coaching staff has been actively engaging with several top prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. One notable player drawing recent attention is Jalen Montonati, who has been in contact with assistant coach Alvin Brooks III.
Montonati, a 6-foot-7, 175-pound small forward from Oklahoma, is currently rated as a four-star recruit and ranked No. 24 nationally in the 2026 class by 247Sports, with some rankings placing him even higher in the top 20.
Several major programs—including Kansas, Houston, Arkansas, and Tennessee—have already extended scholarship offers to him. While Kentucky hasn’t officially offered Montonati yet, that could change soon.
