Although 2026 five-star interior offensive lineman Lamar Brown didn’t include the Texas Longhorns in his top five schools, he still appears to have interest in the program.
According to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman, Texas edge coach LaAllan Clark recently visited Brown at University Lab in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Brown, who many believe could also play defensive line at the collegiate level, hinted at the possibility of visiting Austin this summer, tweeting on Thursday night, “Might have to take a trip to Austin.”
Brown is currently projected by 247Sports’ Zach Blostein to commit to LSU. He holds the No. 1 ranking among interior offensive linemen and Louisiana prospects in the 2026 class, and is ranked No. 15 overall nationally by the 247Sports Composite. Outside of football, he also excels in track and field, having won a Louisiana state title in the shot put.

He has already locked in four official visits this summer: Miami (May 30), Florida State (June 6), Texas A&M (June 13), and LSU (June 20). Now, following his recent tweet, Texas may soon join that list.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, Brown is considered a high-level talent on both sides of the line. Gabe Brooks of 247Sports views him as a versatile, athletic lineman with the potential to contribute on offense or defense at the next level. While he’s long been projected as an offensive lineman, Brown has expressed a desire to play defense, which could influence where he ultimately lands.
If the Longhorns hope to secure a commitment, they’ll need to act fast—Brown plans to announce his decision on July 10.
