MAJOR COMMITMENT SHAKEUP: Texas Longhorns Snatch Away Top Texas A&M Aggies Commit

The Texas A&M Aggies are off to a strong start with their 2026 recruiting class, currently holding the No. 7 spot nationally with 11 commitments. While early momentum is promising, there’s still a long way to go until early national signing day in December. That means other programs have plenty of time to target A&M’s current commits with negative recruiting tactics.

One such target is Aaron Gregory, a top offensive recruit from Georgia who remains firmly on the radar of Texas A&M’s biggest rival, the Texas Longhorns. According to Horns247, Texas is doing everything it can to keep the door open with Gregory, who is scheduled for an official visit to Austin on June 13–15 — the only visit he has set so far that isn’t to Texas A&M. The Aggies will host him the weekend before. The battle for Gregory is shaping up to be a heated one between the two in-state powers.

Texas, under head coach Steve Sarkisian, has returned to national relevance and can point to a recent track record of producing NFL-caliber receivers. But Texas A&M can make a compelling case too. Despite a lackluster passing attack last season, Mike Elko’s staff can sell Gregory on being the featured weapon in College Station, rather than just one of many stars.

Gregory, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound wideout, is ranked as the No. 6 prospect in Georgia, No. 7 wide receiver nationally, and the No. 57 overall player in the 2026 class, per the 247Sports Composite. With two key visits on the calendar, his recruitment is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched storylines in the coming months.
