The Florida Panthers have taken a step toward the future by signing defenseman Ludvig Jansson to a three-year, entry-level contract set to begin in the 2025–26 season.
Jansson, 21, was drafted 125th overall by the Panthers in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, the 6-foot defenseman has been honing his skills in Sweden. With this new contract in place, he’s now eligible to start his pro career in North America as early as next season.

This past year, Jansson played 50 games with Lulea HF in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), posting one goal, four points, and a minus-2 rating. He also added two assists over 17 playoff games as Lulea captured the Le Mat Trophy.
While he’s expected to begin with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers, the Panthers’ affiliate, Jansson’s right-handed shot and potential make him an intriguing prospect who could eventually make an impact at the NHL level.
