BREAKING: Arizona Wildcats bolster squad depth with physically gifted forward

The Arizona Wildcats have officially added international talent to their roster, announcing the signing of Sudanese forward. The 6-foot-9 standout becomes the latest recruit for head coach Tommy Lloyd, continuing the program’s tradition of embracing global prospects.

Mawut, 18, drew attention from scouts worldwide for his athleticism, defensive versatility, and raw potential. Originally from Juba, South Sudan, he most recently played at the NBA Academy Africa, where he averaged 12.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game against top-tier international competition.

“Mabil is an exciting addition to our team,” Coach Lloyd said in a statement. “He’s long, he’s mobile, and he brings a high motor on both ends of the floor. With some development, we believe he can be a major contributor in the Pac-12 and beyond.”

Known for his wingspan and defensive instincts, Mawut is expected to provide immediate depth in the frontcourt and could emerge as a key rim protector for the Wildcats.

Mawut expressed excitement about joining the storied Arizona program. “It’s a dream come true,” he said. “I’ve watched the Wildcats for years, and now I get to wear the jersey. I want to work hard, learn, and help the team win.”

The addition of Mawut highlights Arizona’s growing influence in international recruiting, as the Wildcats continue to build a team with global reach and championship aspirations.
