The Braves opened up two spots on their 40-man roster Thursday by optioning right-handed pitcher to Gwinnett and losing outfielder, who was claimed by the Yankees.
Anderson, who had no minor league options remaining this spring, was traded to the Angels. However, after struggling in a few relief outings, the Angels designated him for assignment. The Braves reclaimed him off waivers on Sunday but quickly DFA’d him again on Tuesday to make room for AJ Smith-Shawver. Now that Anderson has cleared waivers, he has regained minor league flexibility and will continue his recovery from elbow surgery with Gwinnett.

As for De La Cruz, his time with Atlanta ends after an underwhelming stint. With Alex Verdugo and Eli White performing well — and Ronald Acuña Jr. nearing a return — there wasn’t a clear spot for De La Cruz on the roster. The Braves tried to pass him through waivers to retain him, but the Yankees claimed him instead.
Following these moves, the Braves’ 40-man roster is down to 38 players.
