Talented cornerback announce his commitment to play football at Indiana University, with his collegiate career set to begin in 2026. Timmons Jr., currently a rising senior, is the son of former NFL linebacker Lawrence Timmons, who played ten seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, winning a Super Bowl in 2008. The elder Timmons was also named to the NFL All-Rookie Team in 2007 and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2014.
Lawrence “Jay” Timmons, a standout at Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, PA, has committed to play football for Indiana University, joining the Hoosiers’ 2026 recruiting class. A versatile athlete, Timmons excels as both a defensive back and wide receiver. He is ranked No. 465 nationally in the 2026 class, No. 14 in Pennsylvania, and the No. 35 cornerback by 247Sports. Rivals.com also rated the 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect as a three-star recruit, ranking him 17th in the state and 49th among cornerbacks nationwide.

Timmons chose Indiana over offers from a wide range of programs, including Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Maryland, Iowa, Syracuse, and others. As a junior, he made a strong impact on both sides of the ball, recording 33 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 8 pass breakups, and 3 defensive touchdowns. On offense, he added 24 receptions for 485 yards and four touchdowns.
He joins a growing Indiana 2026 recruiting class that already includes defensive tackle Rodney White, linebacker Jacob Savage, offensive lineman Sam Simpson, fellow cornerback Kasmir Hicks, and four-star athlete Henry Ohlinger.
