The Carolina Panthers appear to have had a strong showing in the draft, and while time will ultimately determine its success, the early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive—particularly toward GM Dan Morgan in his second year. Among those impressed is ESPN analyst Matt Miller, who included four Panthers picks in his list of the top 100 selections, based on value, steals, or pure talent.
Leading the way was wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, ranked 25th on Miller’s list. Though Miller questioned the value of taking him at No. 8 overall, he acknowledged the fit with Carolina was ideal and praised the potential synergy with head coach Dave Canales and quarterback Bryce Young.
Next, Miller highlighted the selection of safety Lathan Ransom in the fourth round, ranking it 47th overall. He noted that Ransom earned a third-round grade on his board and brings a physical presence to the secondary—potentially filling a key need as a box safety who could see playing time early.

Edge rusher Princely Umanmielen, chosen 77th overall, was Miller’s 74th favorite pick. He sees Umanmielen as a potential starter with significant upside, making him a valuable addition to the Panthers’ defense.
Perhaps most surprisingly, running back Trevor Etienne, who some viewed as a questionable pick due to a crowded backfield, was listed as Miller’s 93rd favorite selection. Miller was impressed by Etienne’s explosiveness and pass-catching ability, especially shown at the Senior Bowl, and sees him as an important depth piece behind Chuba Hubbard, particularly with Jonathon Brooks recovering from a second ACL injury.
