NC State receive big news regarding Texas Tech talented EDGE

NC State is actively working to strengthen its defensive line through the transfer portal this spring. Since spring practice wrapped up, the Wolfpack has already added two edge rushers — Cian Slone from Utah State and Sabastian Harsh from Wyoming — and is now hosting another potential addition.

Texas Tech EDGE transfer  is visiting campus on Tuesday, according to his agent via On3’s Pete Nakos.

Adedire, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 265 pounds, missed the 2024 season due to a preseason injury but is now fully recovered and set to return for the 2025 season with two years of eligibility left.

Over two healthy college seasons, Adedire has tallied 44 total tackles, including 7.5 for a loss, along with two sacks and a pass breakup. His production improved between 2022 and 2023, increasing from 19 tackles and 3.5 TFLs in his freshman year to 25 tackles and four TFLs as a sophomore. He recorded one sack each season.

A native of Mansfield, Texas, Adedire started eight games at outside linebacker in 2023, appearing in 12 total contests. He played a significant role as a true freshman, becoming the only first-year defender for Texas Tech to play in more than four games, with six starts at EDGE. He was a four-star recruit in the 2022 class and ranked No. 230 nationally, earning All-Big 12 honorable mention recognition as a freshman.

With new defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot at the helm, NC State is clearly shifting its approach on the defensive line to align with his system. Adedire could be a key part of that transition, as the team builds out a deeper rotation of edge rushers — a role less emphasized under former coordinator Tony Gibson’s 3-3-5 scheme.
