The St. Louis Battlehawks will be without starting quarterback Manny Wilkins for the rest of the season after he tore his right Achilles tendon last week. He’s been placed on injured reserve, and backup Max Duggan is set to make his first start of the season.
Wilkins had a strong start to the year, earning UFL Offensive Player of the Week honors in Week 2. Over four games, he completed 65.2% of his passes for 498 yards, throwing one touchdown and three interceptions. To bolster the quarterback room, the Battlehawks re-signed Brandon Silvers, who played with the team last season, and he’ll serve as Duggan’s backup.
In more positive news, star wide receiver Hakeem Butler — last year’s UFL Offensive Player of the Year — is expected to return in Week 5 after missing three games with a hamstring issue. After committing eight turnovers in their last two games, St. Louis will aim to bounce back at home this week against the Panthers.
