Wisconsin basketball officially added Tulsa transfer guard Braeden Carrington to its roster on Thursday, according to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Carrington heads to Madison after one year at Tulsa, where he was a key contributor, starting 19 of 29 games. He logged 26.8 minutes per game while averaging 7.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 steals. He shot 35% from the floor and 33% from beyond the arc.
Standing 6-foot-4, Carrington began his college career at Minnesota, a fellow Big Ten program. He joined the Gophers in 2022 as a three-star recruit, ranked No. 226 nationally, No. 32 among shooting guards, and No. 8 in Minnesota.
During his two seasons with the Gophers, Carrington served as a rotation player. As a freshman in 2022–23, he averaged 5.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 20 minutes per game. His sophomore stats dipped slightly to 4.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 21 minutes per game. Notably, he had a standout game against Wisconsin at the end of his freshman year, putting up 11 points, eight rebounds, and two assists in 21 minutes.
A native of Minneapolis, Carrington joins the Badgers with one year of eligibility left.
He becomes Wisconsin’s fourth portal pickup this offseason, joining Andrew Rohde (Virginia), Austin Rapp (Portland), and Nick Boyd (San Diego State). His commitment also came the same day the Badgers landed Lithuanian forward Aleksas Bieliauskas.
Both Carrington and Bieliauskas are expected to provide key depth for the 2025–26 season. Carrington, in particular, is projected to back up Jack Janicki in the guard rotation and could challenge for the sixth-man role previously held by Kamari McGee.
