
Pitt officially announcedthe addition of veteran point guard to its 2025 transfer class. Last season at Oregon State, He played in 33 games (starting 32) and posted averages of 9.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 83.5% from the free-throw line (66-of-79).
“Damarco is a throwback guard who plays with toughness and aggressiveness on both ends of the floor,” said head coach Jeff Capel. “He has a strong feel for the game and competes at a high level every time he hits the floor. He strong on ball defender and rebounds extremely well at his size. Damarco will be a key piece of our backcourt with his play as well as his leadership.”
Pitt has added veteran point guard Damarco Minor to its 2025 transfer class, the program announced Thursday. Minor brings a wealth of experience, having averaged 9.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game last season at Oregon State, while shooting 83.5% from the free-throw line (66-of-79) across 33 games (32 starts).

During his lone season at Oregon State, Minor reached double figures in scoring 16 times, including two 20+ point performances. He also notched two games with 10 assists and had 17 games with five or more assists.
A Chicago native, Minor began his Division I career at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (SIUE), compiling career totals of 1,308 points, 620 rebounds, 361 assists, and 127 steals across 99 games (98 starts). He’s a career 40.5% shooter from the field (446-of-1101) and an 86.2% free-throw shooter (312-of-362).
In 2023-24, he earned NABC All-District and First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors at SIUE, leading the Cougars in scoring (15.5 ppg), rebounds (8.5 rpg), and assists (3.1 apg). He led the team in scoring 12 times and in rebounding 17 times, with seven 20+ point games and 11 double-doubles. Remarkably, he became the first player 6-feet or shorter since the early 1970s to average at least 8.5 rebounds in a season.
As a sophomore, he earned OVC All-Newcomer Team honors after averaging 14.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. That season, he hit double figures 23 times, had eight 20-point games, and recorded four double-doubles. He also shot 87.6% from the line, including a conference-record streak of 47 consecutive free throws.
Minor began his collegiate career at South Suburban College, where he led the team to a perfect 33-0 season and an NJCAA Division II national title. He averaged 20.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game, earning NJCAA Division II National Player of the Year, First Team All-American, and NABC Two-Year College Player of the Year honors.
He joins a Pitt transfer class that also includes former Iowa State center Dishon Jackson, rising sophomore guard Nojus Indrusaitis, and 2025 First Team All-Sun Belt honoree Barry Dunning Jr. from South Alabama. With just three scholarship returnees—Cameron Corhen, Brandin Cummings, and Amdy Ndiaye—Pitt continues to be active in the transfer portal as it looks to reshape its roster following a 17-15 season that saw the team fall off after being ranked as high as No. 18 in the AP Poll.
