Auburn Tigers receive big news regarding talented QB

Auburn University’s football program received a major boost in its 2026 recruiting efforts as elite quarterback prospect  approaches a decision. According to On3 Recruits, Burgess, a standout from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, is expected to make a commitment after spring practice. The Auburn Tigers are locked in a tight competition with the North Carolina Tar Heels for the talented signal-caller, and the latest updates have fans buzzing with excitement. Burgess, a top-tier prospect in the 2026 class, has been a key target for Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze, who emphasizes quarterback development in his program.

Auburn has been heavily involved in Burgess’ recruitment, hosting him for an unofficial visit in late March. During the visit, Burgess praised Freeze’s coaching style and the overall environment at Auburn, naming the Tigers as one of his “top five” schools along with North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Duke. His most recent comments indicate that the race has narrowed to Auburn and North Carolina. The 6-foot-2 quarterback, known for his strong arm and playmaking skills, would be a major addition to Auburn’s 2026 class, which already includes four-star wide receiver Devin Carter. As the Tigers look to recover from back-to-back seven-loss seasons, landing a player of Burgess’ caliber could signal a promising future for the program. With spring practice underway, all eyes are on Burgess as he nears a decision that could change Auburn’s trajectory in the SEC.
