SAD NEWS: Penn State football Receive Major Transfer Portal Blow…

As the spring transfer portal window nears its end, Penn State defensive end Joseph Mupoyi has entered the portal in search of a new opportunity, per a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

Mupoyi, who has spent the last two seasons with the Nittany Lions, redshirted in 2023 and saw very limited action—appearing in just two games and recording a single tackle during garbage time.

Originally a 4-star recruit from St. Thomas More High School in Connecticut, Mupoyi was ranked the No. 40 edge rusher and the No. 389 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.

He was not expected to play a significant role this upcoming season, with a crowded depth chart that includes Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zuriah Fisher, Max Granville, and Jaylen Harvey ahead of him.

Mupoyi is now part of a growing group of Penn State players entering the portal this spring, joining offensive guard JB Nelson, cornerback Jon Mitchell, and linebackers Ta’Mere Robinson and Backham Dee.

As the team looks to meet the likely 105-man roster limit, more departures from the program are expected.
