The defensive talent exodus continued this week with sophomore linebacker entering the transfer portal. Bonner took on a starting role last season after Caden Fordham was injured and performed well, finishing fifth on the team in both tackles and tackles for loss.
With players leaving the secondary and now Bonner’s departure, it’s becoming harder to feel confident about the defense this fall. Bonner’s exit likely wasn’t expected before the transfer window opened, but this is just the nature of the current landscape.

Particularly this spring, with additional funds being funneled into player compensation due to the House settlement, many players are likely drawn to exploring what the market has to offer. There’s more money on the table than ever, and it seems like some players are taking advantage of the opportunity for better deals before things settle into the new system.
