
The Minnesota Golden Gophers were looking to strengthen their defensive tackle depth as the spring transfer portal opened, and on Tuesday morning, they successfully bolstered that position. After taking an official visit to campus, Purdue transfer committed to the Gophers, sharing his decision on X.
He joins the Minnesota Golden Gophers after spending three seasons with the Purdue Boilermakers, having originally signed with Purdue as part of their 2022 recruiting class.

During his time with the Boilermakers, Omonode played in all three of his seasons, appearing in 33 games and recording 32 tackles, six tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks.
In the 2023 season, Omonode saw action in 10 games, registering 11 tackles, including two tackles for loss and one sack, while playing a career-high 286 snaps. Though he only started one game during his time at Purdue, Omonode was one of their top defenders, earning PFF grades of 80.2 in 2023 and 71.6 in 2024.
A native of West Lafayette, Indiana, Omonode will have one year of eligibility left to play with the Gophers.
Omonode’s commitment puts Minnesota five above the 105 scholarship limit for the 2025 season with 110 players (94 current players on roster plus 16 summer enrollees/transfers).
