HUGE BOOST: Panthers Welcome 5-star intriguing name From Transfer Portal

A former top recruit for the Pitt Panthers has entered the transfer portal and is now expected to make his first return trip to Pittsburgh since being recruited in the 2023 class.

Hykeem Williams, who once held 35 scholarship offers, narrowed his choices down to six schools in 2022: Pitt, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, and Texas A&M.

Although the list was full of powerhouse programs, Pitt was seen as a legitimate contender. Ultimately, Williams decided to stay in his home state and committed to Florida State.

Now, after two seasons with the Seminoles, Williams has entered the transfer portal.

According to a report from Zach Blostein of Noles247 (part of the 247Sports Network), Williams has already scheduled a visit to Pitt. The news came via an X (formerly Twitter) post on Friday night.

Florida State Seminoles wide receiver Hykeem Williams (8) tries to fight off a tackle. The Florida State Seminoles defeated the Duke Blue Devils 38-20 on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023.

Blostein also noted that Williams plans to visit Colorado and Syracuse. Colorado, in particular, could be a strong contender, as many of their key receivers—such as Travis Hunter, LaJohntay Wester, Jimmy Horn Jr., and Will Sheppard—are expected to be selected in the upcoming NFL Draft, creating potential openings.

Pitt, meanwhile, added three wideouts from the portal this winter, including Deuce Spann, who also played at Florida State, Andy Jean from Florida, and Louisville transfer Cataurus Hicks.

However, Jean has since re-entered the portal after the spring game, and redshirt freshman Cameron Monteiro has also left the program.

Williams could be a strong fit for Pitt for several reasons: he was a major recruiting target before, the team has lost multiple receivers, and new offensive coordinator Kade Bell could benefit from Williams’ size. At over 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, Williams would complement Spann’s 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame well.
