BREAKING: Indiana Hosiers land blockbuster commitment for top talented player

It turns out that Indiana successfully secured commitments from both players who visited last weekend.

Another former guard at Troy, pledged to join the Hoosiers, confirming his decision to Field Of 68 late Wednesday night.

He  was one of the top guards in the transfer portal, and Indiana landed a commitment from him following his visit. This came just a day after they secured another highly sought-after guard, Lamar Wilkerson, who also visited the Hoosiers over the weekend.

Conerway’s journey is an intriguing one. Hailing from Burleson, Texas, near Dallas, he played at two different junior colleges – Grayson College and Ranger College – across three seasons. During his final season at Ranger, he was named the Texas Association Basketball Coaches Men’s Player of the Year in 2023. Despite mostly coming off the bench in all but four of the team’s 35 games, Conerway put up impressive numbers, averaging 15.7 points and 6.2 rebounds, while shooting 48.4% from the field and 34.4% from beyond the arc.

Opportunistic Guard Tayton Conerway Commits To Indiana

His strong JUCO play earned him a spot at Troy, where he averaged 11.8 points off the bench during the 2024 season. By the 2024-25 season, he became a starter, improving his stats to 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 47.1% shooting. What stood out most, however, was his defensive prowess. Conerway led the Sun Belt Conference in steals for two consecutive years, averaging 2.1 steals in 2024 and 2.8 steals in 2025. His ability to generate turnovers and convert them into offense was a key part of Troy’s success.

Conerway played a pivotal role in Troy’s 23-11 season and their Sun Belt Conference championship win. The team advanced to the NCAA Tournament, though they were eliminated by Kentucky in the first round.

Under previous eligibility rules, Conerway would have exhausted his Division I eligibility, having played three years in JUCO and two at Troy. However, following a lawsuit filed by Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, the NCAA granted a blanket waiver allowing former JUCO athletes to gain an extra year of eligibility if they would have run out in 2025. This ruling allowed Conerway to continue his career at Indiana.

He’s the latest addition to Indiana’s growing roster, which also includes Wilkerson, guard Jasai Miles (North Florida), forward Reed Bailey (Davidson), swingman Tucker DeVries (West Virginia via Drake), and Conor Enright (DePaul via Drake). Incoming freshman Trent Sisley also joins the mix.

However, Indiana is still looking to bolster its frontcourt, as they missed out on junior college center Emeka Opurum, who committed to Auburn on Wednesday.
