Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program bolster squad depth with physically gifted player

The UNC basketball coaching staff got some good news on Sunday night, as the Tar Heels secured their fourth transfer of the current cycle — and this latest addition is a local standout.

After making multiple visits to the Tar Heels during his prep days,  Chapel Hill native  has officially committed to head coach Hubert Davis and his staff in what will be Davis’ fifth year at the helm.

Standing at 6-foot-11 and weighing 215 pounds, Stevenson adds size and physicality to a UNC frontcourt that’s expected to be stronger heading into the 2025–26 season.

In his sophomore campaign, Stevenson posted averages of 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, and while he showed potential as a perimeter threat, he connected on just 30.7% of his attempts from beyond the arc.

Jarin Stevenson becomes the fourth portal addition for the UNC recruiters this offseason, joining former Colorado State guard Kyan Evans, Arizona big man Henri Veesaar, and West Virginia wing Jonathan Powell. The Tar Heel transfer class stacks up at No. 11 nationally and No. 2 in the ACC, according to 247Sports.
