Cardinals receive intriguing news regarding star slugger

The St. Louis Cardinals defeated one of the National League’s top teams, the Philadelphia Phillies, on Friday.

It was a solid performance by the Cardinals, who came away with a 2-0 victory. Andre Pallante delivered seven shutout innings, while Alec Burleson and Yohel Pozo each contributed an RBI to secure the win.

It was a well-played game overall, but the Cardinals faced a bit of a scare when shortstop Masyn Winn had to exit early with a back injury. Fortunately, Winn said he doesn’t anticipate a trip to the Injured List, though he’ll likely sit out for a few games to recover.

Nolan Gorman poised for healthy, productive 2024 season

Losing a key player is never ideal, but the timing might actually play in the Cardinals’ favor. Fellow infielder Nolan Gorman, who’s been sidelined with an injury himself, could be nearing a return. According to MLB.com’s John Denton, the team ran Gorman through a full pregame workout on Friday to evaluate how he’s feeling. If everything checks out, he’s eligible to be activated as soon as Saturday.

“Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said 2B Nolan Gorman (right hamstring strain) is scheduled to go through a full pregame workout with the team today,” Denton said. “Then, a decision will be made about a possible Minor League rehab assignment. Gorman is eligible to come off the IL tomorrow (12th).”

The timing really couldn’t be better if Gorman’s workout went smoothly. As of now, there’s no official update, but if he’s healthy and feeling good, there’s a real chance the team could slot him right back into the lineup. Either way, we shouldn’t have to wait much longer to find out what the next move will be.
