Gonzaga Bulldogs confirm unfortunate news

Freshman guard likely won’t be heading to Spokane in the near future, as he has reportedly canceled his planned visit with Gonzaga.

The 6-foot-4 transfer from Delaware and the reigning Coastal Athletic Association Rookie of the Year told High Level Sports that Gonzaga “went another route,” and he’ll now shift his focus to his remaining finalists: Texas Tech and Penn State.

Pasha, who had Gonzaga among his final three choices, was expected to visit the Inland Northwest after the NCAA recruiting dead period lifted on April 10. Instead, he’s scheduled to visit Texas Tech on Sunday and Monday, and he told High Level Sports he plans to announce his decision on April 16.

Izaiah Pasha cancels visit with Gonzaga

The 6-foot-4 guard had an impressive season at Delaware, starting all 33 games and averaging 11.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting 51.7% from the floor in 34 appearances. Pasha earned All-CAA Freshman Team and All-CAA Tournament Team honors, helping the 12-seed Blue Hens reach the conference championship game. In a standout semifinal performance, he filled the stat sheet with 21 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and only one turnover against UNC Wilmington. Despite his efforts, Delaware narrowly missed out on an NCAA Tournament berth, falling 76-72.

With the departures of Ryan Nembhard, Khalif Battle, and Nolan Hickman, Gonzaga will likely need to revamp its backcourt. The Zags may be moving in that direction, as Maryland transfer Rodney Rice included them among his top six choices on Thursday. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 13.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists across all 36 games for a Terrapins team that advanced to the Sweet 16 for just the third time since 2002.
