Another Gonzaga Bulldogs player who entered the transfer portal this offseason has found a new school. He submitted his name to the portal last week after two years in Spokane, announced via Instagram on Wednesday that he will continue his college career with the Grand Canyon Antelopes.
A former four-star recruit from Notre Dame High School in California, appeared in 69 out of 70 games during his time with the Zags, missing only one game this past season due to illness. He played all 35 games and started 15 during his freshman year in 2023-24, although his playing time and performance declined in his sophomore season.
In 34 games this year, including one start, Stromer averaged 4.3 points and 2.1 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game, a decrease from the 23.5 minutes he played as a freshman. The 6-foot-7 wing shot 40.0% from the field and 34.2% from three-point range on 2.3 attempts per game. As a freshman, he hit 35.8% of his three-pointers on a higher volume, averaging 2.7 attempts per game.

While Stromer’s offensive game continued to improve, his playing time at Gonzaga was largely earned through his energy and effort on defense. According to sportreference.com, Stromer posted a 2.5 plus/minus on defense, ranking eighth in the West Coast Conference for the 2023-24 season. He also ranked in the top 20 in the WCC in defensive rating and block percentage during his freshman year.
A native of Sherman Oaks, California, Stromer was the No. 47-ranked recruit in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite. In May 2022, he chose Gonzaga over three other finalists: Arizona, Houston, and UCLA.
The Grand Canyon Antelopes are coming off their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Drew, who has won 75% of his games since taking over in the 2020-21 season. Drew led the program to its first NCAA Tournament win in 2024, securing an upset over Saint Mary’s in the first round at Spokane Arena. However, Grand Canyon was unable to make it back-to-back seasons with a tournament victory, as they were eliminated by Maryland in the first round last March.
