BREAKING: Iowa Basketball Team Land Massive Commitment For Talented Guard

Former Drake guard has pledged to join the Iowa basketball team after head coach Ben McCollum’s transition to the Hawkeyes, he announced on Thursday.

Howard will have three years of college eligibility left when he arrives at Iowa.

A native of Plattsburg, Missouri, Howard was ranked as the 10th-best prospect in Missouri’s 2024 high school class by 247Sports. Over the course of his high school career, he scored over 3,000 points and recorded more than 500 steals. Initially, he committed to North Dakota State but reopened his recruitment before ultimately choosing Drake.

In his freshman season with the Bulldogs, Howard averaged 4.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. He came off the bench in all 30 games, playing about 15 minutes per game for a team that finished with a 31-4 record.

The 6-foot-5 guard recorded a career-high 21 points in Drake’s victory over Southern Illinois in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. During that game, he also tallied six steals, four rebounds, two assists, and made four 3-pointers.

Howard scored at least seven points in 11 games as a freshman, including a seven-point performance in Drake’s win over Missouri in the NCAA Tournament.
