RJ Davis Sends Four-Word Message To Tar Heels Star After Transfer Portal Decision

After reaching the Sweet 16 in last year’s NCAA Tournament, the North Carolina Tar Heels barely made it into this year’s field of 68, securing one of the last four spots.

The Tar Heels, led by guards RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau, played their best game of the season in their First Four win over San Diego State. However, their tournament run was cut short just days later, as they were eliminated by Ole Miss in the first round.

Now, the Tar Heels are moving forward without their two starting guards. Davis, who spent five years at UNC, is expected to pursue a professional career, while Cadeau, a sophomore, has chosen to enter the transfer portal.

On Monday, On3’s Joe Tipton reported that Cadeau will transfer to the Michigan Wolverines for the 2025-26 season. Michigan also made it to the Sweet 16 this year before falling to Auburn.

Soon after the news broke, Davis, who played alongside Cadeau for two seasons, shared a message of support for his former teammate on Instagram, writing, “rock out brudda man.”

Cadeau, who joined UNC in 2023, quickly became one of the ACC’s top playmakers. In his freshman year, he averaged 4.1 assists per game, and that number rose to 6.2 in his sophomore season.

His scoring also improved significantly from his first to second year. Cadeau averaged 7.3 points on 41.7% shooting and 18.9% from three-point range in 2023-24, but this season, he increased his scoring to 9.4 points on 44.5% shooting and 33.7% from beyond the arc.
