What if the Jets were able to land a player who could shine alongside both Wilson on offense and Gardner on defense? Based on that description, it’s likely that the player in question is Travis Hunter, the two-way star and Heisman Trophy winner from Colorado.
In a mock draft published on Monday, Justin Fried of FanSided predicted that the Jets would trade for the third-overall pick from the New York Giants, giving them the opportunity to select Hunter. To make this happen, the Jets would offer their seventh-overall pick, a 2025 third-round pick (No. 73 overall), and a 2026 second-round pick.
“Hunter is the best player in this draft class. He’s an exceptional two-way talent that the NFL has never quite seen before. He’s truly the best wide receiver and cornerback in this class,” Fried wrote.

“While the Jets don’t urgently need help at cornerback, Hunter could still make an impact on defense when needed. On offense, he’d team up with Garrett Wilson, instantly elevating the Jets’ receiving corps.”
Hunter, 21, accumulated 1,258 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns as a wide receiver for Colorado last season, while also recording four interceptions as the team’s top cornerback. He’s eager to excel at both positions in the NFL, and the Jets, who are in need of talent on both sides of the ball, could be the perfect fit.
Of course, taking a chance on Hunter is a bit of a gamble, and the Jets would be sacrificing significant draft capital to move up for him. However, he’s the type of game-changing player that could easily win over the Jets’ fanbase if he succeeds at the pro level.
