JUST IN: ‘Things just didn’t work out’ … Commanders star breaks silence on his Departure..

Since his release from the Washington Commanders, defensive tackle Jonathan Allen has shared his thoughts on leaving the franchise and expressed appreciation for the fresh opportunity with the Minnesota Vikings.

“The NFL is a business,” said Allen, a former Commander. “It’s tough to spend your whole career with one team.”

Allen, who was drafted in the first round in 2017, spent eight seasons with Washington, experiencing both the highs and lows of the franchise. His tenure included their impressive 12-5 record last season, their best since 1991, and a trip to the NFC Championship. However, the new leadership didn’t see him as part of their long-term plans.

“A new regime came in with their own vision, and I wasn’t part of it,” Allen remarked, without any bitterness. “I actually appreciate them doing me a favor by releasing me when they did.”

Now, Allen is focused on his new chapter with the Vikings and the opportunity to reconnect with head coach Kevin O’Connell. “Things didn’t work out for reasons I can’t control, but I’m incredibly excited—super excited—to be part of this new team,” he said.

As Allen moves on from the Commanders, he is eager to make a strong impact with Minnesota.
