West Virginia combo guard has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3. He will be transferring to his third school in his career.
He initially played his freshman year at Illinois before moving to West Virginia. Last season, he averaged 5.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, while shooting 39.7% from the field.
A four-star recruit in the Class of 2022, Harris was ranked the No. 2 prospect in Ohio, the No. 15 combo guard in his class, and the No. 96 overall prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which aggregates data from major recruiting services.
In addition to Harris, West Virginia also lost forward Amani Hansberry to the NCAA transfer portal.
Like Harris, Hansberry’s career began in the Big Ten with the Illinois Fighting Illini. This past season, he played a significant role for a West Virginia team on the brink of making the NCAA Tournament.
Hansberry appeared in 31 games, coming off the bench in only seven of them. He averaged 9.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game—a significant improvement for the true sophomore.
Hansberry is expected to have two years of eligibility remaining at his next destination. He spent one year at Illinois before transferring to West Virginia. A coaching change in Morgantown has led to considerable roster turnover.
