Missouri Tigers Confirm Big News Regarding Star Forward

The Missouri Tigers have begun their activity in the transfer portal, securing talented forward as reported by Jeff Borzello of ESPN.

He came close to joining the Tigers last offseason after transferring from Pepperdine, but ultimately decided to remain on the West Coast and play for Loyola Marymount. Although his statistics saw a slight decline, Porter remained productive in his third year of college basketball.

Standing 6-foot-11 and weighing 230 pounds,  he averaged 12.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this season, with a shooting percentage of 39.4% from the field and 31.6% from beyond the arc. He took a career-high 152 three-point attempts this season.

A three-star recruit from the 2022 class, Porter hails from Columbia, Missouri, and attended Father Tolton High School, located just minutes from Mizzou Arena. His brothers, Michael Jr. and Jontay Porter, played alongside him at times during his high school years.

Porter has been a consistent contributor throughout his three years of college basketball, with the first two seasons spent at Pepperdine. He averaged 12.1 points per game in his freshman year and a career-high 16.2 points per game during his sophomore year. Known for his ability to score at various levels, Porter is adept at running the floor and spacing the court, making him a great fit for head coach Dennis Gates’ system.

His proficiency and readiness to shoot from beyond the arc will be a valuable asset for the Tigers. With the departure of junior forward Aidan Shaw, there is now some open space at that position.

This marks the first of what could be several transfer additions for Gates and the Tigers. Expect additional moves in other positions, particularly in the guard spot, as the transfer cycle continues.
