BREAKING: Arizona State Sun Devils Confirm Bad News Involving Star Player, Quarterback Jeff Sims Sidelined with Season-Ending Injury
The Arizona State Sun Devils received devastating news on Friday, as the team announced that star quarterback Jeff Sims will miss the remainder of the season due to a severe shoulder injury.
Sims, a 6’3″ redshirt senior, suffered the injury during the Sun Devils’ game against USC on Saturday. After undergoing an MRI on Sunday, the team confirmed that Sims had suffered a torn labrum and would require season-ending surgery.

“We’re heartbroken for Jeff,” said Arizona State head coach Herm Edwards. “He’s a talented player and an important part of our team. We’ll miss him on the field, but our main concern right now is his health and well-being.”
Sims was having a standout season for the Sun Devils, throwing for 1,835 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions, while also rushing for 355 yards and 5 touchdowns. His absence will be deeply felt, as Arizona State prepares to face a tough stretch of conference games.
The Sun Devils will now have to rely on backup quarterback Trenton Bourguet to lead the team. Bourguet, a 6’3″ sophomore, has seen limited action this season but will be tasked with guiding the offense for the remainder of the season.
Arizona State’s next game is scheduled for Saturday, November 5, against Oregon. The team will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss to USC and adjust to life without Sims.
As for Sims, the focus is now on his rehabilitation and recovery. The Sun Devils are hopeful that he will make a full recovery and be ready to return to the field next season.
