JUST IN: WHAT A BAD DECISION!!! Oliver Marmol Cardinals Make Final Decision On Red-Hot 24-Year-Old

The St. Louis Cardinals have been deliberating over their outfield decisions in recent weeks, and it seems they’ve come to a conclusion.

The center field position has been up for grabs during Spring Training, with Victor Scott II, Michael Siani, and Lars Nootbaar all in the running for the starting role. Before camp, it appeared that either Siani or Nootbaar would secure the position, but Scott has stood out as the most impressive performer among the three.

On Sunday, the team announced that Scott had won the roster battle and would be starting on Opening Day, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

“Victor Scott II will be the opening day center fielder for the Cardinals,” Goold reported. “‘He’s earned it,’ says Oliver Marmol.”

The 24-year-old has had an outstanding Spring Training, forcing the team’s decision. In 16 games, he’s posted a .349/.451/.721 slash line, with four home runs, seven RBIs, eight walks, and 11 runs scored. Additionally, he has two doubles and a triple to his name.

Scott couldn’t have done much more to impress the Cardinals this spring, and as a result, the team is rewarding him with the starting role. Last year, he earned a spot out of camp but was later sent to the minors. The hope now is that he can carry this momentum into the regular season and remain with the team throughout the year.

After a long Spring Training, we’re just days away from Opening Day, and Scott will be part of the roster.
