HUGE BOOST:West Virginia has 2 commitments in the 2026 recruiting class

West Virginia has secured two commitments for the 2026 recruiting class so far, currently sitting at 66th in the national rankings. WVSports.com takes a closer look at the recruiting rankings, exploring how each recruit contributes to the team’s total on Rivals.com.

How does Rivals.com calculate its point system for rankings? We’ll break that down, along with an analysis of how the Mountaineers have reached their current position.

First, let’s explain the process: Players are given a certain number of points based on their Rivals.com Rating (RR). A 6.1-rated prospect earns 150 points, a 6.0-rated prospect gets 135 points, a 5.9-rated prospect receives 120 points, a 5.8-rated prospect gets 105 points, and so on, with the points decreasing in increments of 15.

Players ranked in the Rivals250 receive additional bonus points depending on their position. For example, the No. 1 prospect in the country gets an extra 100 points, the No. 25 gets 55 points, the No. 166 gets 19 points, and so on, down to the final rank of the top 250, which receives a +3 bonus.

These bonus points are added to the points from their Rivals Rating.

It’s important to note that only the top 20 recruits for each school contribute to the team’s ranking. So, if a school has 25 commitments, only the top 20 are counted toward the team’s total.

Total Points = Rivals Rating points for Top 20 commits + Rivals250 Bonus Points
