TAR HEELS LAND BIG TRANSFER: Former Penn State player Commits to UNC
The University of North Carolina football team has secured a significant transfer commitment, as former Penn State Lions defensive lineman Smith announced his decision to join the Tar Heels.
285-pound graduate transfer, entered the NCAA transfer portal approximately a month ago. Following a visit to Chapel Hill on Monday, speculation mounted that was leaning toward committing to UNC. The talented defensive lineman ultimately chose the Tar Heels, bolstering the team’s defensive line.
A member of Penn State’s 2019 recruiting class, Vilbert took a redshirt in his first year with the Nittany Lions. He received the NCAA’s blanket COVID-19 redshirt in 2020 and was forced to take a medical redshirt in 2023 due to injury. These factors combined to make Vilbert eligible for the 2025 college football season.
