Notable Stats

Oregon State remains unbeaten in the first inning, having not allowed a run in the opening frame through all 19 games this season. The first inning was the most challenging for Rutgers until the eighth, as Trevor Cohen reached base via walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Oakes then induced two groundouts to end the inning, sending it to the bottom half where the Beavs were retired in order.

Both teams went down without a hit in the second inning. The third inning was similar to the first, with Oakes hitting Pablo Santos. Oakes ended the third with a strikeout and finished his outing after three scoreless innings. His line was 3.0 innings, 3 strikeouts, and two hit batters. Laif Palmer came in to relieve him.

The Beavs came alive in the third inning. Jacob Krieg and Easton Talt walked to start the frame, and Aiva Arquette followed with a two-run double. Trent Caraway then drove in Arquette with a two-out RBI single. Jordan Falco walked three consecutive batters, the last of which forced in a run, making it 4-0 at the end of the third inning. The Beavers sent 10 batters to the plate during that rally. Cameron Johnson replaced Falco in the fourth.

In the fourth inning, the Beavs loaded the bases on an Arquette single and walks by Talt and Singer. Caraway then delivered a two-RBI double, pushing the lead to 6-0. Palmer followed up with another scoreless inning in the fifth, finishing his day with two perfect frames.

Decramer relieved Palmer in the sixth and sent Rutgers down in order. The Beavers maintained their combined no-hitter until the eighth when Yomar Carreras singled off Wyatt Queen.

After Queen loaded the bases, AJ Hutcheson came in but balked in the first Rutgers run. The Scarlet Knights added two more runs before a double play ended the threat, leaving the Beavs with a safe lead going into the bottom of the eighth. Talt added an RBI double for the final run, making it 7-3.

The win marked the Beavs’ 15th consecutive victory at Goss Stadium, a streak second only to Western Kentucky’s 18-game home win streak. This week, the Beavs take their momentum to California for a three-game series against Cal Poly starting Friday.
