Reyne Smith will miss his third consecutive game for the Louisville men’s basketball team.
The sharpshooting guard will be sidelined for tonight’s ACC Tournament semifinal against Clemson, as confirmed by the program before tip-off.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard injured his right ankle in the second-to-last regular-season game against Cal on March 5. This injury has kept him out of the last two games: the regular-season finale against Stanford and a rematch against the Cardinal in the ACC quarterfinals, both of which Louisville won.
Smith exited the game against Cal at the 12:36 mark of the first half and spent the rest of the period in the KFC Yum! Center tunnels trying to recover. Although he was initially considered “questionable” to return at halftime, he did not rejoin the team for the second half. Athletic trainer Katie Creznic informed head coach Kelsey that Smith “couldn’t come back in the game.” Smith finished with no points on 0-for-2 shooting and has since been considered “day-to-day.”

A key player for Louisville, Smith ranks as the third-leading scorer with an average of 13.4 points per game. He is also among the top three-point shooters in the nation, with 106 made threes (10th in the country), 3.53 made threes per game (3rd), and 277 attempts (11th), setting a new Louisville single-season record. His 38.3% shooting from beyond the arc ranks second in the ACC.
A native of Ulverstone, Australia, Smith spent his first three collegiate years at Charleston under Coach Kelsey. Over 102 games and 89 starts with the Cougars, he accumulated 1,212 points, 294 made threes, 192 rebounds, 149 assists, and 68 steals. Last season, he earned All-CAA Second Team honors while averaging 12.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
