The Los Angeles Chargers made a significant move by announcing they’ve re-signed star edge rusher Khalil Mack.
But not all news in the NFL free agency is positive. NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reports that the Chargers lose a major talent to the Los Angeles Rams.
Former Chargers defensive lineman Poona Ford is not changing cities, just changing colors, as the seventh-year veteran agreed to a three-year deal with the Rams.
Fowler also reports that the deal is valued at just under $30 million, with $17 million guaranteed. Ford had anticipated attracting several teams during free agency after a standout season with the Chargers.

Pro Football Focus ranked Ford as the fifth-best defensive tackle in the NFL, placing him among the top ten for run defense among interior linemen.
Ford’s departure is a tough blow for the Chargers’ defensive line, but the team remains in a strong position financially and has the flexibility to make more moves this offseason.
Despite his exit, it’s hard not to feel happy for Ford. As an undrafted player, he’s now earned a contract that many didn’t think was possible for him. There’s no reason for hard feelings—he’s earned this opportunity for a well-deserved payday.
